I am so happy to announce to have won a bronze reward for my submitted photo in Budapest International Foto Awards Competition 2021 featuring in the category of people. Budapest International Foto Awards (BIFA) is an inspirational community that recognizes the power and influence of photography in shaping how we see the world.
Winners were selected by an esteemed jury of photographers and leaders in the photography world and the best photos were awarded, just like the photo I had taken in the beautiful city of Cairns in Australia that won a bronze award this year’s competition.
I took this photo of the 5-day-old Mayaree a couple of years ago and I still adore this image. I remember when Mayaree’s mom found me and asked me to capture her family’s special heritage which she is very proud of. Culture and heritage play a major roll in the lives of Aboriginal Australians, the World’s oldest continuous civilisation dating back well over 50,000 years. Little Myaree is the beautiful product of fifty thousand years of genetics since her ancestors migrated from Africa across to Australia and Papua New Guinea.
I love to incorporate culture into photo sessions. It’s such a beautiful thing to capture with a brand new life. Especially a little life that will be raised to learn such amazing cultures and traditions.
